In short

  • Our calculators run in your browser. Your inputs are not sent to us or to anyone else.
  • We use Google Analytics only if you agree. Without your consent it is not even loaded.
  • We show no ads, use no advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and sell no data.
  • You can withdraw your consent at any time with the “Cookie settings” button on this page.

1. Controller

The controller responsible for processing personal data on www.wildgarden.io under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Wild Garden GbR
Rheinsberger Str. 76/77
10115 Berlin
Germany
Email: privacy@wildgarden.io

We have not appointed a data protection officer because we are not required to (Art. 37 GDPR, Section 38 of the German Federal Data Protection Act). For any data protection question, and to exercise your rights, contact us at the email address above.

2. Delivering the website and server log data

Our website runs on the Webflow platform (Webflow, Inc., 398 11th Street, Floor 2, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA). Webflow delivers the pages through the Cloudflare network (Cloudflare, Inc., USA), and a code library provided by Webflow (jQuery) is loaded through Amazon CloudFront (Amazon Web Services, Inc., USA). Webflow is our processor under Art. 28 GDPR; Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services are Webflow’s subprocessors.

When you open a page, these services process the data your browser sends for technical reasons: IP address, date and time of the request, the address requested, the page you came from (referrer), browser type and version, operating system, amount of data transferred and status code. Without this data the website cannot be displayed.

Purpose: delivering the website and keeping it stable and secure, for example against attacks and overload.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is a secure, working service.
Retention: the providers keep log data only as long as these purposes require and delete it afterwards. We do not analyze log data ourselves or combine it with other data.

3. Cookies and storage in your browser

We store information on your device, or access information stored there, only when this is strictly necessary for the use you request (Section 25(2) No. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act, TDDDG) or when you have consented (Section 25(1) TDDDG).

Strictly necessary (no consent needed):

  • _cfuvid (Cloudflare): a session cookie that lets Cloudflare tell apart visitors who share an IP address when protecting the site against overload (rate limiting). It is deleted when you close your browser.
  • wg_consent (your browser’s local storage): stores your choice about Google Analytics (“Allow” or “Decline”) so we do not ask you again on every visit. It stays until you change your choice in the cookie settings or clear your browser’s storage.

Only with your consent:

  • _ga and _ga_9QN1429K4F (Google Analytics): tell visitors and sessions apart for statistics. Lifetime up to two years; some browsers limit it further. If you withdraw your consent, we delete these cookies.

Our calculators do not store your inputs in your browser.

4. Web analytics with Google Analytics (only with consent)

If you choose “Allow” in the notice, we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). It shows us which pages and calculators are read and used, so we can improve them. Without your consent Google Analytics is not loaded and no data is sent to Google.

Data processed: page views with a cleaned page address (without inputs from our calculators and without search terms), the referring page in shortened form, scroll depth, clicks on links to other websites, interactions with the search form, file downloads, device and browser information, approximate location (city, country), and the fact that a calculator was used or a result changed. We never send your inputs or results. We do not measure page views whose address could contain inputs at all.
IP address: according to Google, the IP address of users in the EU is used only to derive approximate location and is then discarded, not stored.
Not enabled: Google Signals, advertising features, linking with Google Ads, and collection of user IDs or of data you enter.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG).
Retention: event data is deleted after two months, user-level data after 14 months; this period restarts with new activity. We only see the reports in aggregated form.
Processing on our behalf and third countries: Google processes the data as our processor. A transfer to Google LLC in the USA cannot be ruled out (see section 11).
Withdrawal: you can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future using the “Cookie settings” button on this page. We then stop measuring, delete the analytics cookies and reload the page.

5. Our calculators

All calculations run in your browser. Your inputs are not sent to us or to anyone else and are not stored. If you use “Copy link”, your inputs are part of the link after the “#” sign. Your browser does not send that part to our servers when the page is opened; others see your inputs only if you share the link.

6. Search

If you use the search, your search term is sent to Webflow so the results can be displayed (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The search term is part of the results page’s address and therefore also appears in the server log data (section 2). We do not send search terms to Google Analytics. Please do not enter sensitive data in the search.

7. Contacting us by email

If you email us, we process your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message to handle your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request concerns a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is answering requests. Our mailbox is operated by Google (Google Workspace, Google Ireland Limited) as our processor. We delete emails once they are no longer needed for this purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply (for example six years for commercial and business letters under Section 257 of the German Commercial Code and Section 147 of the German Fiscal Code).

8. Fonts

The fonts of this website are stored on Webflow’s servers (section 2). No fonts are loaded from Google or other providers.

9. Links to other websites

Our articles link to sources, studies and videos, for example on YouTube. We do not embed videos or other third-party content. Only when you click such a link do you leave our website; from then on, the privacy notice of that provider applies.

10. Recipients

  • Webflow, Inc. (USA): hosting, delivery and search, with the subprocessors Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) and Amazon Web Services, Inc. (USA)
  • Google Ireland Limited (Ireland): Google Analytics (only with your consent) and email (Google Workspace)

Beyond that, we share personal data only where the law requires us to.

11. Transfers to third countries

Webflow, Inc., Cloudflare, Inc., Amazon Web Services, Inc. and Google LLC are based in the USA and certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Transfers to certified companies are covered by the European Commission’s adequacy decision of July 10, 2023 (Art. 45 GDPR). In addition, these providers’ data processing agreements include the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).

12. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR); this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

Right to object: where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you can object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).

To exercise your rights, an email to privacy@wildgarden.io is enough. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the one responsible for us: Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany, www.datenschutz-berlin.de.

13. No obligation to provide data, no automated decisions

You are not obliged to provide us with personal data. Without the technically necessary data (section 2), however, the website cannot be displayed. We do not make automated decisions, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.

14. Changes

We update this privacy notice when our website or the law changes. The version published here applies; its date is shown at the top.
